Peer Review

IJRDO Journal of Archaeology has a formal peer review process to maintain high standards of published research. The manuscripts are considered for quality, clarity, and relevance to make a publishing decision.

It is an equitable, consistent and merit-based process.

Initial Screening

All manuscripts are checked by the editorial office when they are submitted. This step ensures that:

The manuscript is within the scope of the journal
The manuscript is well-written and complete
The manuscript is properly structured and formatted

Manuscripts that fail to comply with these requirements may be sent back to the author for amendment prior to review.

Assignment & Evaluation

Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts clearing the initial screening are submitted to independent reviewers with expertise in archaeology or related disciplines. Reviewers are chosen on the basis of their expertise to ensure an appropriate review.

Review Criteria

The reviewers evaluate the manuscript on the basis of:

High quality of the research
Clarity of presentation and organization
Originality and novelty
Relevance to archaeological studies
Quality of analysis and interpretation

Comments, suggestions and advice are given to improve the manuscript if necessary.

Type of Review

Double-Blind Review

The review process is double-blind to ensure fairness to authors and reviewers. Manuscripts are reviewed fairly, and decisions are made solely on the basis of the quality of the manuscript.

Decision & Revision

Editorial Workflow

Editorial Decision

The editor will decide to:

Accept the manuscript
Request minor or major revisions
Reject the manuscript

The decision is communicated to authors with specific reviewer comments.

Revision Process

If the paper is accepted for revision, authors should:

Address each reviewer's comments
Make necessary corrections and improvements
Return the manuscript within the specified time

Additional reviews may be requested.

Confidentiality & Standards

Confidentiality

Submitted manuscripts are confidential. Editors or reviewers should not use, share or disclose any part of the manuscript for any purpose.

Conflict of Interest

Editors and reviewers must declare any conflict of interest. The manuscript will then be sent for review by others.

Timelines

The journal strives to provide a timely review process. Although the timeframe may differ according to the manuscript and stage of review, we strive to ensure the process is efficient.

Final Acceptance & Commitment

When a manuscript has successfully passed the review process and revisions, it is accepted for publication. It is then readied for publication.

IJRDO Journal of Archaeology prides itself on offering a fair, transparent and efficient peer review process. Our journal is dedicated to fairness, transparency and the quality of research published.
